St. Mary’s Centenary Degree College celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great patriotism and enthusiasm on 15th August 2024. The event, held on the college grounds, was marked by a series of activities that paid tribute to the nation and honored the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Event Highlights: 1. Flag Hoisting Ceremony: The day began with the traditional flag hoisting ceremony. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. P. Anthony Vinay, had the honor of unfurling the national flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by all present. The sight of the tricolor fluttering in the morning breeze filled everyone with pride and a deep sense of patriotism. 2. NCC Cadets’ Parade: One of the key highlights of the celebration was the parade performed by the NCC cadets. The cadets, dressed in their uniforms, marched in perfect synchrony, demonstrating their discipline and dedication. The parade was a visual spectacle that reflected the spirit of unity and the commitment of the youth towards the nation. 3. Patriotic Songs: Following the parade, students from various departments came together to sing a medley of patriotic songs. Led by the Principal, students, faculty, and staff took an oath to work towards eradicating drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
