St. Mary’s Centenary Degree College is a Catholic Christian Minority Institution. The Institution is under the aegis of Hyderabad Archdiocese Educational Society. It was established in the year 2001 as a co-educational Institution. It was affiliated to Osmania University and recognized by UGC u/s 2(f).

The Institution is centrally located in the heart of the city, just 1 km. from Secunderabad Railway Station and has been the first choice option to both urban and rural students of Telangana. With well-established teaching and learning processes, the students are imparted with best of the conceptual knowledge.

The state of the art facilities and training with respect of sports and cultural activities has fetched many laurels to the Institution. The various clubs and committees present in the Institution has ensured the fulfilment of social responsibility and induction of social values and skills among its students.

Innovation and Research has been integral part of the Institution and it is evident from its Collaborations, MOUs, Workshops, and Seminars etc.

SMCDC has been the pioneer in providing training and placing the students in many reputed companies with good packages.

   

History

St. Mary’s Centenary Degree College was established in the year 2001 under the aegis of the Hyderabad Archdiocese Educational Society. It is a Catholic Christian Minority Co-educational Institution.

This institution was established to mark the centenary celebrations of the founding of St. Mary’s High School in 1895 followed by the instituting of St. Mary’s Centenary Junior College in 1985. Blessed Mother Mary is the Patron saint of this institution.

Love, Service and Sacrifice are the Core Values of this Institution which are embedded in the Logo of SMCDC; which expands to: Love for Humanity, Service to Society and Sacrifice to God.

This institution was established with a Vision: “to be an educational hub for a student’s holistic development and thus empowering them with tools of love, service and sacrifice to become catalysts of positive change towards a better society.”

It is situated in the heart of the Hyderabad city within a 1 Km radius from either the Secunderabad railway station or bus station

St. Mary’s Centenary Degree College had commenced its successful academic journey in 2001 under affiliation to Osmania University. The intake for both B.Com (Computers) and B.Com (General) programmes was 80 students in 2001.

In the subsequent academic year 2003-04, the intake for B.Com (Regulars) increased to 60, while the intake for B.Com (Computers) increased to 80 in 2008-09 and B.Com (Regulars) to 100 students.

With academic discipline as one of its core strengths, the demand for admissions had seen a steady rise and the intake for B.Com (Computers) increased to 100 and B.Com (Regulars) to 110 in 2009-10.

Keeping in tune with the demand for Management professionals and Computer Application experts in the job market, the BBA Programme was introduced in the year 2012-13 with an intake of 50 students along with B.Com (Computer Applications) program which had an intake of 60.

After setting the standards for academic excellence for almost a decade, the college witnessed a huge demand for admissions and the intake for B.Com (Computers) increased to 180 while for B.Com (Regulars) it was 120 and the intake for BBA was 60 students.

An additional Programme – B.Com (Tax Procedures) was introduced in the academic year 2017-18 with an intake of 60 students as the job market was witnessing a steady demand for tax consultants and tax professionals in the job market.

As the job markets continued to witness an accelerated demand for management professionals excelling in the areas of Finance, Marketing and HR, the intake of BBA was enhanced to 120 in the academic year 2018-19.

Business analytics as a field of study focuses on the compilation of data, its statistical analysis and the reporting process to help investigate and analyse business performances, provide insights, and drive recommendations to improve performances. Keeping in view the prospects of this programme, B.Com (Business Analytics) and BBA (Business Analytics) was introduced in the academic year 2022-23 with an intake of 60 each.

This institution recognised by UGC u/s 2(f) has to its credit more than two decades of administrative experience, academic accomplishments and student achievements in many different fields.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure; remarkable academic discipline; qualified, experienced and committed staff members; offering of various value-added courses and organizing of a plethora of events and activities for the holistic development of students are some of the key areas of focus at the institute.

The academic ambience of this institution is continually augmented by the exemplary achievements of its alumni who have settled in all corners of the world.

Under the strong academic leadership of the Governing Body, chaired by the Cardinal Rev. Poola Anthony, the Chairman of HAES and inspired by the Ambitious Academic Leader Rev. Fr. Dr. P. Anthony Vinay, this institution aims to attain academic excellence in every sphere with support from all relevant stakeholders.

  •   Marys Centenary Degree College was awarded with BEST COLLEGE AWARD – PLACEMENT CATEGORY by STUMAGZ at Undergrad Summit organized on 30th March, 2019.
  •   Mary’s Centenary Degree College was awarded with Global Outreach Education Award for excellence in - "Private College” at Global Outreach Research and Education Summit and Awards 2019 being hosted by Global Outreach Research and Education Association on 30th April, 2019.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell

OBJECTIVES OF IQAC :

The Primary aim of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.

The following are the functions of IQAC:
  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
  • Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
  • Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement.
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices.
  • Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality.
  • Development of Quality Culture in the institution.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC
