Today, the role of Higher Education is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of an ever-changing global society. At St. Mary’s Centenary Degree College, we provide an atmosphere to our students for multifaced development, where students are encouraged to channel their potential in the pursuit of excellence. This can only be possible in a holistic, student-centric environment.
Revolution is a much-needed impetus for the growth of human society. Reforms are needed in everyfield, especially in the field of education. The latest revolution in the system of Indian education has come with the origin of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to David A. Kolb, learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. The NEP 2020 focuses on experiential learning, equity and discovery-based teaching-learning methods. We,at our college promote this with the help of peer learning as voluntary, fun creative, collaborative and joyful exploratory activities in the classroom for experiential learning and deeper student learning.
We are creating a user-friendly and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel happy and comfortable and are able to develop their talents and skills. Under the guidance of the NEP, Higher Educational Institutions focus on the skill-enhancement of the students.Efforts will be made to eliminate rote-learning and emphasis will be laid on experiential learning. We strive hard to cultivate ‘21st-century skills’ among students, including critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and technical knowledge. TheInter-disciplinary approach is the vision of the NEP. NEP will certainly encompass the needs of the students making them skilful learners who are competent to face real-time challenges. Our experienced, qualified and committedfaculty providesan inclusive curriculum to promote inclusion and equity in education for the holistic development of the students.
Dear students, it is my message to you all that people of fine character live by their values. They are honest and are committed to truthfulness, word and deed. Character creates self-discipline, self-respect, which in turn leads to high self-esteem. Maturity is reflected in all aspects of character-the decisions we make, the friends we choose and the responsibilities we accept. Always remember to uphold the dignity of people. Be always ready to give preference to others. What you are is God’s gift to you. What you become is your gift to God. Have something to live for. Bring out the best in you.
“With warm wishes and God’s abundant blessings”.
Yours in Christ
Fr. Dr. P. Anthony Vinay, Principal
